AXA IM strengthens Core unit with new Head of Global Equities

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has hired Dominic Byrne as its new Head of Global Equities for AXA IM Core. Dominic will report to Jeroen Bos, Global Head of Equities, and will be based in London effective 16 September.

Dominic will lead the wider Global Equity team to achieve its strategic goals and manage several global equity portfolios at AXA IM, together with the expanding Global Equity team. Dominic’s appointment builds on the recent hires in the team of Stephanie Li, who will focus on Asia equities, and Koichiro Nanaumi, who will focus on Japan equities.

Dominic, who has over 20 years of investment experience, was previously Deputy Head of Developed Market Equities at abrdn and has been managing global equity portfolios since 2009, with a recent focus on sustainability. He managed abrdn’s Global Equity Impact Strategy fund, designed to invest in companies with a  clear social or environmental impact, from 2017 up to his departure.

Biography

Dominic Byrne joined AXA Investment Manageres in September 2024 as Head of Global Equities. In 2001, Dominic began an investment management career of over two decades as a portfolio manager at Standard Life, where he remained until his move to AXA IM. Starting with eight years dealing in UK equities, he moved to their global equities team in 2009.

When Standard Life merged with Aberdeen in 2017, and became abrdn, Dominic was appointed Deputy Head of Global Equities. He was promoted in 2020 to Head of Global Equities, and was a member of the Equities Management Group, responsible for the entire Equities division. In 2023, he began his final role for abrdn, as Deputy Head of Developed Markets Equities.

He managed abrdn’s Global Equity Impact Strategy fund, designed to invest in companies with clear social or environmental impact, from 2017 up to his departure.

A graduate of Oxford University, Dominic lives in Edinburgh and will be based in AXA IM’s London office.
