AXA IM hires fund manager to bolster emerging market debt team


AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) announces the hire of Mark Bodon as Senior Portfolio Manager, already effective from 4 July 2023.

Mark has joined the emerging markets & Asian fixed income team and reports to Magda Branet, Head of Emerging Markets & Asian Fixed income. He co-manages the AXA WF Asian Short Duration Bonds fund, and the AXA WF Asian High Yield Bonds fund alongside Magda and Portfolio Manager Mikhail Volodchenko.

Prior to joining AXA IM, Mark was a Portfolio Manager at Columbia Threadneedle Investments where he was a co-lead on a variety of hard currency sovereign and corporate debt investment strategies, and before that he was a Senior Portfolio Manager at First Sentier Investors.

Commenting on Mark’s appointment, Magda Branet said: “Mark is a fantastic addition to the emerging market debt team, and brings his breadth of knowledge in the space to some of our existing strategies. Our approach to investment management is very much team based, and we believe Mark has all the skills to complement our existing expertise, while bringing new ideas to the table.”


Biography

Mark Bodon is a Senior Portfolio Manager in AXA IM’s Emerging Markets & Asian Fixed Income team, based in London. Prior to joining AXA IM, Mark was a Portfolio Manager at Columbia Threadneedle Investments and a Senior Portfolio Manager at First Sentier Investors where he led various investment strategies. He also held senior research roles at PineBridge Investments and Standard Bank Asset Management. Mark was previously a senior ratings analyst with Moody’s in London covering EM and high yield credit. He holds a Masters of Applied Finance and Investment from The Securities Institute of Australia and is a Chartered Accountant.
